Succulents are fascinating plants that present themselves in all kinds of shapes and forms. They are generally drought tolerant plants that specialize in storing water in one or more of their structures. This enables the plant to sustain itself through varying periods of reduced moisture. After millions of years of evolution, succulent plants have developed many different ways to store water. Some store water in thick leaves, others in their stems and still others in their root systems. The result is a wonderfully diverse group of plants that can look odd and unique and beautiful all at the same time.
