Crimson Tide
Crimson Tide is a Mammillaria cactus in a black, rectangular pot. It is so named due to the red, tumbled glass top dressing that the plant is floating in. Mammillarias are very popular among succulent enthusiasts due to their easy maintenance and propensity to grow into striking clumps. This particular plant already has a large pup on the side and the mother plant is "splitting". Eventually the larger head will completely separate into two heads. As the plant grows, all the heads will split similarly. It is quite reminiscent of cell division we learned in high school biology. As previously mentioned, this arrangement is very easy to care for. It can take (and prefers) full sun or partial shade. Water every week and it will grow happily into a large clump. Once a year, each head will sprout a ring of flowers near the crown. The accent rock will be separated during shipping and packaged elsewhere in the box.
