Fat Bastard (No Kidding)

This plant is commonly called Fat Bastard in the world of succulents (we have a sense of humor too!).  It is a Cyphostemma hybrid between Cyphostemma juttae and Cyphostemma hardyi. Cyphostemma Fat Bastard is a premium plant and quite expensive.  It forms a very interesting caudex (thick trunk) of thickened roots.  Every plant has a differently shaped caudex.  We picked the most interesting one we could find for this arrangement.  It has four thick lobes and are oddly flattened.  The caudex will grow in time and that is what collectors strive for in this plant.  This plant goes dormant in the winter and loses its leaves.  It should not be watered while it is dormant.  Resume watering (up to once a week) when leaflets appear.  This plant is staged in a very beautiful and rare, red oval base.  This is a very old bonsai pot of unknown origin.  We found it as part of a huge collection of old bonsai pots sold by the descendant of the deceased owner.  The accent rock will be removed from the arrangement during shipping and placed in the same box.
