Scythe

Scythe is an arrangement of one of our rarest plants.  This plant was hybridized by a very skilled horticulturalist that resides in a suburb of Bangkok Thailand.  We were very fortunate to be able to visit his nursery on a trip to Thailand several years ago.  He was gracious enough to sell us several of his very rare hybrids.  Unfortunately, the Sansevieria parents of this beautiful plant were lost in the translation.  However, we do know that it is an absolutely spectacular plant and virtually irreplaceable (at least for us).  It has elegantly mottled leaves.  The leaves are heavily channeled and recurved. New growth is a lighter, pastel green.  It has not produced any pups/rhyzomes thus far and we have been reluctant to cut off any leaves for leaf propagation.  It has been carefully paired with a beautifully flaired, handmade pot by a local artist, Pablo Gonzalez.  Care for this plant is consistent with that of other Sansevierias.  Water when the soil is dry, though, never more than once a week.  Protect from frost.  Keep in bright light, but avoid too much direct sun. Sansevierias can live indoors for months at a time, but should be rotated outside when the weather is nice.  They are recognized for extraordinary air filtering properties.
